On September 6, 2017, a Chinese press delegation from the China Business Network (CBN) visited Odense University Hospital in the Region of Southern Denmark to showcase some of Denmark’s strongholds within hospital innovation and eHealth. CBN is one of China’s most pioneering financial media with programs that are broadcast in 37 TV Channels at the same time in China, Hong Kong, and Macau reaching an audience of around 700 million people.
At Odense University Hospital, the delegation met with Director Peder Jest for an interview about the strategy of implementing new and innovative solutions at the hospital and in particular, why innovative solutions play a key role in building the New University Hospital in Odense (New OUH).
Afterwards, the program included a demonstration of medical technology, including the app called My Patient Pathway, which is developed to facilitate digital communication between the hospital departments and patients. Through the app, patients can have videoconferences with hospital staff and thereby avoid unnecessary hospital visits.
The Chinese press delegation was also introduced to the innovative research project related to neonatal babies at the children’s hospital, a joint China-Denmark research project on nutrition for neonatal children. Rounding off the visit at Odense University Hospital was a presentation on a new 3D-printer that prints plastic models for surgery in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
The press tour in Odense ended with a visit to CoLab Odense for an introduction to public-private partnerships and the concept of CoLab Plug & Play, a test and demonstration lab that supports companies, public organizations, municipalities and hospitals in the process of developing and testing technological healthcare products.
Danish TV channel TV2 made a news feature about the Chinese visit at Odense University Hospital. Watch it here (in Danish).
