Slagelse psychiatric hospital won the prestigious and internationally renowned real-estate competition MIPIM, Le marché international des professionnels de l’immobilier, first prize for best healthcare development.
The hospital is the largest and most ambitious psychiatric construction undertaken in Denmark and is located in the vicinity of the Slagelse general hospital. The new 44.000m2 psychiatric hospital replaces four smaller, separate facilities and incorporates them into one complex with outpatient facilities and 194 beds. The hospital is expected to play a key role in the psychiatric treatment in Region Zealand.
The project strives to promote the principles of recovery, healing architecture, and transparency and proximity between people and functions. The hospital complex incorporates its green surroundings and has a large protected garden at the center, designed as the heart of the building.
The design was developed by Karlsson Architects and Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects. The construction was completed by C.F.Møller.
