On September 4-5, 2017, a Serbian press delegation visited the Copenhagen area to report on the Danish elder care sector and in particular the experiences with the unique concept of living labs and implementation of innovative assisted living technologies in Danish nursing homes.
The delegation started their press tour by visiting Living Lab Strandvejen in Copenhagen to learn about the Danish concept of co-creation in developing assisted living technologies. The living lab is a test apartment where new assisted living and healthcare technologies can be tested in an authentic environment by the intended end-users. The delegation had a guided tour of the house, which included a presentation of the activity center, the gym, and the test apartment.
Next, Hans Erik Henriksen, CEO of Healthcare DENMARK gave an overall introduction to the Danish healthcare system and was interviewed about the Danish elder care sector.
In the afternoon, the Serbian press visited a senior citizen in her own home to learn about what it means to her that she can stay in her own home and receive home care instead of living in a nursing home. Rounding off the busy day was an interview with a home care nurse about the different tasks of home nursing as well as the digital tools used by home nurses in the Municipality of Copenhagen.
The next day, the delegation visited Langgadehus Nursing Home, a modern nursing home that focuses on implementing innovative assisted living technologies in practice. The press delegation had the exclusive opportunity to experience the activities and was allowed to film the residents during activities.
The delegation ended the press tour by interviewing Copenhagen Healthtech Cluster, a health innovation consortium with the objective to create innovative public procurement, public-private export initiatives, and a world-leading research and development environment that attracts foreign companies and investments to Copenhagen.
The visit was organized and hosted by Healthcare DENMARK. For more information about this visit, please contact Senior Consultant Tanja Staniok.
