Quantum computers can make extremely complex simulations in a very short space of time and will therefore be used by the pharmaceutical industry to investigate the effects of medicine.

The University of Copenhagen, with 40 million DKK in support from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, will establish a quantum hub in Denmark, where researchers from universities and companies will have the opportunity to use IBM's network of very powerful quantum machines.

Quantum computers are relevant in several research areas, not least in life sciences. In the long term, quantum computers will be able to perform calculations of complicated chemical and biochemical processes with an accuracy of which classic computers fall short.

Quantum computers have great potential because they are expected to create minor revolutions within a few years. The hub in Copenhagen will be the first of its kind in Scandinavia.
