WDC measures a country’s performance based on three factors: knowledge, technology, and future readiness.

These factors look into a combination of digital talent, digital regulation, data governance, digital attitudes, and the availability of capital. Denmark excelled, particularly within future readiness – that WDC describes as “the level of country preparedness to exploit digital transformation”.

When looking into a country’s digital competitiveness, it is also important to look at cybersecurity measures. This should be a top priority, for the public and private sector in a digitally-competitive economy, as we are seeing a digital transformation of companies. The increasing adoption of digital practices by citizens, moving both business and personal interactions onto the internet, vastly increases the number of potential cyber-attacks.

Therefore, it is important to continually grow and develop digital talents. Denmark must continue its excellent digital training and education for companies, in order to keep innovating, preparing for the future, and having a competitive advantage.
