Medical robots save time and reduce errors in the healthcare system

New technological solutions are emerging to relieve healthcare staff.

Manual tasks occupy much of the skilled health personnel’s valuable time and expertise. However, new smart robots can help free up time and resources. For example, when a doctor prescribes medicine to a patient it can all happen digitally, because new medical robots have an IT system integrated with the municipality's IT system. If there are changes in medical prescriptions, it goes all the way from the doctor to the robot digitally. This ensures that the correct dose is delivered to the patient, without health personnel having to physically visit the home address of the patient, and therefore help reduce work pressure within healthcare, due to staff shortages.

Also, when the robot must be topped up with new medication, this medication is packaged and delivered from the chemist or pharmacy. This all happens automatically because the machine and the pharmacy are inter-connected. The robot doses the medicine and reminds the patient to take it, via several reminder functions. If the patient doesn’t react to any of the reminders, the healthcare personnel will be notified.

In this way, medication is administered in a controlled manner, and the risk of incorrect dosing is significantly reduced. When implemented by municipalities and regions, these medical robots can relieve healthcare staff and help minimise medication errors within the healthcare system.
