New Psychiatric Centre opens in Copenhagen

The first new building for the Psychiatric Centre Copenhagen in Bispebjerg was officially inaugurated on November 10, 2022.

The modern structure has an open and inviting environment utilising lighting and gentle acoustics, natural elements, and inner courtyards. All of this contributes to the patients’ recovery as well as creating a good working environment for employees.

The room design promotes both physical exercise, immersion, creativity, and calmness. Creating a safe environment has also been a top priority when designing the architecture, for both patients and employees. With bright and open spaces, it is easy to maintain an overview and better prevent conflicts. Patients therefore feel less confined, regardless of where they are in the room.

The Centre houses, among other things, an emergency department, ECT clinic and four intensive inpatient units with a total of 200 patient rooms. The first 74 patients can move in on November 20, and it is expected to have all rooms filled in 2025 when the last two buildings open and the entire construction is completed.
